This morning I am sharing an interview with Tracey Phillips of Bridal Design Jewellery. Tracey specialises in designer jewellery for weddings, anniversaries & parties, handcrafted with Swarovski Crystal and Sterling Silver. 1. Where did it all begin for you with Bridal Designs Wedding Jewellery & how long has the business been running?

 I was working part time in a jewellery shop when I started looking more closely at how the pieces were put together, I decided to look into making jewellery myself and after a lot of reading books and hours spent on the internet I made a start. There was a lot of trial and error involved to start with but eventually I started getting results I was pleased with. My sister saw some pieces I’d made and asked me if I’d make her wedding jewellery for her. I made a few different sets for her to try which left me with quite a lot of excess jewellery, I plucked up courage to approach a couple of local bridal shops to see if they’d be interested in stocking my jewellery and to my delight both said yes! After a year of supplying the shops I decided to start up my website This was in 2005 and it has been going from strength to strength ever since.

2.  Tell us a bit about your new ‘loves me’ range

Remember when you were a kid and the only way to tell whether your first love felt the same about you was by picking the petals off a daisy? Well that’s the idea behind our new collection… Loves Me! It consists of daisy shaped flowers made from Swarovski pearls and crystals with single drop beads representing the falling petals…he loves me..he loves me not….he Loves Me!  The pieces are so delicate they would be perfect for any member of the bridal party from the Bride to the smallest flowergirl.

4. If you were designing a jewellery piece for Kate Middleton what ideas would you put forward for her?

With a Grandmother-in-law to be with such an extensive collection of diamonds to borrow I dont think she will be in need of too much jewellery! However I think something like the Zoe necklace and bracelet would be perfect for those 'afternoon tea with the Queen' occasions, classic pearls but with a touch of sparkle.

5. Do you design pieces for yourself & what would be your perfect jewellery piece & why?

        I don't design specifically for myself but am usually wearing my current favourite piece (which changes daily!) Today i am wearing the Moonlight bracelet which is so easy to wear but is really eyecatching. My perfect jewellery piece is my engagement ring, it is so far removed from my usual style but I love it, it's an antique Victorian gold, ruby and diamond ring from 1898

6. Is there anything else about Bridal Designs Wedding Jewellery you would like to share with us?

I'd like to introduce you to my loyal staff members, they are completely useless at designing jewellery and making tea but I often get inspiration for new pieces whilst out waking with them (including the Loves Me! collection while walking through a field covered in daisies) .They are Rosie and Misty the Bridal Designs dogs.
